as in regular hexagon angle between two sides is 120.  now resolve mv  in mv cos60  and mv sin60 

change in momentum =2mv cos60 =mv

as mv sin60 is in same direction so there will be no change in momentum for mvsin60 but mv cos60 are in opposite direction.

so impulse= mvcos60- (-mvcos60)=2mvcos60.
