Question
A solid sphere rolls without slipping along the track.the sphere starts from rest from a height H above the bottom of a loop of radiur R which is much larger than the radiur of the sphere 'r'.the min.value of H for the sphere to complete the loop ..??Read 1 Solution.
- Apply law of conservation of energy except that the Radius of sphere has to be subtracted from the Radius of the Loop i.e use (R-r) while writing Radius of the loop and use R-r when calculating height to find PE at the highest point of loop
- At the highest point the Normal reaction should be taken 0 because that is the condiion for "just" completing the loop
- In normal questions the Kinetic energy is taken. In this question at the highest point the Kinetic Energy is both Rotational and Translatory . I/2 Iw^2+I/1mv^2.
- Take v=wr as it rolls without slipping.
