Originally,
T = 2π√(m/k)
k = 4π2m/T2
After adding the extra mass,
k = 4π2(m+2)2/(T+1)2
Equating k in both equations and simplifying,
m2/T2=(m+2)2/(T+1)2
Substute T= 2sec and solve the quadratic for m,
m = 4kg, -0.8kg
but mass cannot be negative, thus,
m = 4kg
